Elderly man critically wounded in West Oak Lane shooting

Police are investigating a shooting in West Oak Lane that left a 67-year-old man critically wounded Wednesday night.

The man was walking along 74th Avenue near 19th Street around 7:20 p.m. when he was approached by two men wearing masks and dark hooded sweaters, said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

The men shot the victim once in each of his arms and once in his chest before fleeing the scene in a red Ford Taurus.

Police said the incident may have been an attempted armed robbery, but were unsure if the suspects took anything from the man before they fled the scene.

Police rushed the victim to the Albert Einstein Medical Center, and said he was listed in critical condition as of 8:30 p.m.

A witness was taken to speak with police in the Northwest Detective Division after the shooting, and police are working with businesses near the scene of the shooting to determine whether the incident was recorded on a nearby surveillance camera.

No arrests were made.
