Fairhill man arrested in Rite Aid robberies

A 42-year-old Fairhill man was arrested in connection with a series of armed robberies at Rite Aid drug stores between Oct. 9 and May 8, police said.

Orlando Aguayo, of Philip Street near Cambria, was arrested on charges of robbery, assault, retail theft and additional offenses for allegedly robbing 10 Rite Aid stores, police said. Aguayo used a knife to threaten store employees when they tried confronting him as he walked out with stolen merchandise.

After Aguayo robbed a Rite Aid on 5th Street near Olney Avenue Tuesday, cops spotted the man nearby on Tabor Road and took him into custody without incident.

Aguayo is being held in the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility on $80,000 bail. He's scheduled to appear in court May 24 for a preliminary hearing, according to court documents.
