One teen critical, another stable after shooting in North Philly

An 18-year-old man was in critical condition Thursday night after he was shot at least three times on a North Philadelphia street after an argument, cops said.

At 8:44 p.m., the victim was outside on Myrtlewood Street near Master when two men opened fire on him, cops said. He was struck in the stomach, arm and leg, Chief Inspector Scott Small said at the scene.

Small said police believe the man was the intended target, and that the shooting was motivated by an earlier argument that may have been over a woman. He was rushed by Narcotics officers to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition but expected to survive.

An 18-year-old woman who police said was an innocent bystander suffered a graze wound to the cheek during the shooting. She was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital and listed in stable condition. Police said she is not the woman who the previous argument was over.

Five spent shell casings, the victim's cell phone and a towel marked the sidewalk on Master Street where the victim fell.

The shooters were described as two men in their 20s wearing dark hoodies, one of whom was also wearing a baseball cap. They were last seen running northbound on Myrtlewood Street.

Small said one camera at a corner business in the area may have captured the shooting. There were no witnesses.
