Man, 26, shot dead in North Philadelphia

Police were investigating the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old man late Monday night.

Police were investigating the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old man late Monday night.

Officers responded to Uber Street near Montgomery Avenue in North Philadelphia just before 10:45 p.m. and found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest, buttocks and back, Chief Inspector Scott Small said. Police took him to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:30 p.m.

Investigators found at least five spent shell casings that appeared to come from a .45-caliber handgun at the scene, police said. Small said a car with the driver's window shot out and blood about 75 feet from the car in a courtyard where the victim ran and collapsed marked the scene.

No arrests had been made late Monday night, and police were still investigating the fatal shooting.
