Man arrested for robbing police and fire credit union

A man who allegedly robbed the Police and Fire Federal Credit Union of about $2,500 on March 21 was arrested after someone recognized him from the credit union's surveillance camera and called police.

Authorities didn't have to travel too far from the crime scene to find Andrew Haselroth, the 25-year-old suspect.

Police said the man lives on Bleigh Avenue near Whitaker Avenue in Rhawnhurst — which is just over a mile from the credit union on Castor Avenue near Shelmire.

The police Major Crimes and FBI Violent Crimes Task Force worked together to arrest Andrew Haselroth, 25, who allegedly walked into the credit union at around 12:40 and handed a teller a note demanding money.
