Man critical after S. Philly shooting

A man was shot in the lower back amid a flurry of bullets tonight, according to police.

The victim, 27, was shot about 7 p.m. at Bucknell Street near Federal, according to Chief Inspector Scott Small.

He was taken by private vehicle to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

Police found 15 shell casings at the scene, according to Small, who added that there's no information on the motive or suspect.

"The victim's not giving us the full story," Small said. "He says he doesn't know who shot him, or why he was shot, so we have our work cut out for us."

Surveillance footage from nearby businesses is being reviewed during the investigation, Small said.
