Teen drops weed on shooting scene, arrested

A 17-year-old boy is in stable condition after a shooting on Marston Street near Allegheny Avenue in North Philadelphia Tuesday evening, police said.

The victim was shot around 6:25 p.m. and medics took him to Temple University Hospital. Chief Inspector Scott Small said the victim did not provide police with information on who shot him, or the circumstances that led up to the shooting.

Another 17-year-old boy - who told police that he is the victim's brother - tried rendering aid to the wounded teen, Small said. He was arrested by officers from the 39th District after he accidentally dropped 18 small bags of marijuana onto the crime scene.

Police said the drugs were concealed in his clothes and fell out when he bent over to try helping the victim.

Police found no shell casings on the scene and there were no witnesses.

No arrests were made.
