Seven people were injured — two critically — in a three-car crash that police say involved a drunk driver outside the Eagles game Thursday night.
The crash happened at 7:51 p.m., when a 25-year-old man, who police said was driving drunk, was traveling west on Pattison Avenue toward Broad Street in a Jeep Grand Cherokee and plowed into a Ford Escape carrying six people as the Ford attempted to make a U-turn on Pattison, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.
All six people in the Ford were injured. One, a 25-year-old man, was ejected out the back window of the SUV and suffered head trauma, Small said. He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in critical condition, but is expected to survive. A second man, 27, also suffered head trauma inside the Ford and was also critical at HUP.
The 28-year-old driver of the Escape and two other passengers were taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. They were all listed in stable condition late last night, Small said. The sixth passenger was in stable condition at HUP.
The 25-year-old driver of the Jeep suffered minor cuts to his face and head and was treated at Methodist Hospital before being arrested for DUI, Small said. His name was not yet released.
