Police: Woman critically injured in hit-and-run

A hit-and-run crash in North Philadelphia early this morning has left a woman in critical condition, police said.

The woman,52, was trying to cross Glenwood Avenue near Broad Street about 9:30 a.m. when she was struck by a Dodge SUV, according to witness reports.

She was taken to Temple University Hospital with major injuries throughout her body, including a compound fracture in her left leg.

The driver fled the scene, heading westbound on Glenwood. Police said the SUV is missing its right passenger mirror.
