Police bust vehicle burglars, recover $100K in stolen stuff

Police arrested two Northeast Philadelphia men and recovered more than $100,000 in stolen items after a three-month investigation into a vehicle burglary ring operating in the Far Northeast and Bensalem.

Police arrested two Torresdale men and recovered more than $100,000 in stolen items after a three-month investigation into a vehicle burglary ring operating in the Far Northeast and Bensalem.

Ryan Shantz, 30, of Pearson Avenue near Cottage Street, and Michael Mager, 31, of Jackson Street near Magee, were charged with 61 counts of theft from auto and related offenses, police said. Investigators discovered the pair fenced stuff they stole at the Cash for Gold store located at Torresdale Avenue near Longshore. Police recovered the $100,000 in stolen items there, including power tools, laptop computers, camera, GPS devices, video game systems, musical instruments, air conditioners, snowblowers, and landscaping and carpentry equipment.
