Police on Thursday identified an 18-year-old man who was shot to death in Brewerytown Wednesday night as Shaheed Jackson.

Officers were called to Dover Street just north of Thompson at 9 p.m. that night and found Jackson, who lived on the block, lying on the sidewalk suffering from several gunshot wounds to his chest, back and torso, police said. Jackson died about a half-hour later at Hahnemann University Hospital.

Police said they do not yet have a motive or anyone arrested in connection with Jackson's shooting. Chief Inspector Scott Small said at the scene of his killing that ballistic evidence indicated the shooter fired at him at least 14 times at close range.

Jackson is the 176th person murdered on the streets of Philadelphia so far this year, compared with 254 people murdered as of this date last year.
