Police are hunting for the burglar who broke into a West Philadelphia charter school last month and stole a safe containing $17,000.

The burglary happened Nov. 27 at the West Philadelphia Achievement Charter School on Callowhill Street near 67th, said Officer Jillian Russell, a police spokeswoman. The burglar took the safe from the school office.

No one answered the phone at the elementary school today - a snow day for area schools.

But according to 6ABC News, the money was the proceeds of candy sales and other fundraisers the school's 600 students have held this year.

Police reported no suspects.
