Police search for suspect in abduction attempt

A man who attempted to lure a 9-year-old boy into his truck is the subject of a police investigation.

Police report that the boy was walking on 57th Street near Malvern Avenue yesterday in Overbrook about 3:30 p.m. when the man pulled up and told him to get into the vehicle. He reportedly told the boy that he wouldn't get in trouble because he knew the boy's mother.

The boy fled the scene without incident.

The suspect is believed to be an African-American man in his 40s or 50s with a long beard, driving a grey pickup truck with tinted windows.
