Police are seeking suspects in the early-morning gun slaying of a father in his West Philly home.
The man, 34, whose name hasn't been released, has a 3-year-old daughter who was in the home at the time, but investigators don't believe she saw the slaying, a homicide detective said.
Police sped to the home on 49th Street near Arch about 8:15 a.m. this morning and found the victim collapsed in a stairwell with multiple gunshot wounds to his face and arm, said Officer Tanya Little, a police spokeswoman. Paramedics declared him dead on the scene at 8:23 a.m., Little said.
Channel 6ABC reported that the man was preparing to take his daughter to the airport to catch a flight to see her mother in Florida when he was attacked, and police found two suitcases in the stairwell. But a homicide detective reached this afternoon couldn't confirm that account.
