Stabbing leaves woman, 26, in critical condition in Mantua

A 26-year-old woman remains in critical condition after police say she was stabbed several times in West Philadelphia's Mantua section Wednesday afternoon.

A 26-year-old woman remains in critical condition after police say she was stabbed several times in West Philadelphia's Mantua section Wednesday afternoon.

A police spokeswoman said the victim was attacked on Spring Garden Street near 31st just after 2 p.m. The attacker, described by police as a man known to the victim, stabbed her several times. Police said an off-duty officer intervened, and the man was arrested at the scene.

The victim was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in critical condition. A police spokeswoman said the relationship between the victim and her alleged attacker was unclear.
