Teen slain in Feltonville

A teenager has died tonight, the latest victim of gun violence in a day that saw five others wounded.

Just before 6:30 p.m., officers found the man, 19, shot once in the back on Courtland Street near 4th in Feltonville, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

He was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 20 minutes later.

Witnesses told police that another man, who was dressed in a black shirt and camouflage shorts, shot the teen before fleeing the scene on foot down 5th Street. Detectives from the Homicide Unit are questioning those witnesses, who all live on that quiet, residential street, Small said.

There is no information available on a motive.

A police source confirmed that the teen was the sixth person in the city to be shot since 4 p.m., a number that also includes a man who committed suicide.
