Third suspect nabbed in October slaying

A Juniata Park man has become the third suspect charged in a fatal shooting from late October.

Justin Bickert, 22, was arrested Monday in connection to the slaying of Alexander Ruiz, police said.

Bickert, of H Street near Courtland, has been charged with murder, aggravated assault and related offenses in the shooting. He remains in custody without bail, according to court records.

Officers found Ruiz, 25, shot once in his chest on 4th Street near Indiana Avenue in North Philly just after midnight Oct. 25, police said. He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead minutes later.

Bickert's arrest in the case was preceded by the charging last month of Angel Colon, 20, who faces murder, recklessly endangering another person and firearms offenses.

A police spokeswoman said at the time that Colon, who was in custody at the time of his charging for an unrelated case, was also shot in his hip and buttocks during the attack on Ruiz.

A third man, Tyrone Moore, 27, was charged Oct. 28 with firearms offenses in Ruiz's murder, according to court records.

Moore remains in custody in lieu of 10 percent of $250,000 bail, those records show.
