Upper Darby fugitive arrested in Wissinoming

A fugitive wanted for fatally shooting a man outside a bar in Upper Darby was arrested Friday by the U.S. Marshals Service in Philadelphia.

A fugitive wanted for fatally shooting a man outside a bar in Upper Darby was arrested Friday by the U.S. Marshals Service in Philadelphia.

An anonymous tip led marshals to Higbee Street near Duffield in Wissinoming around 2 p.m., and they found John (aka "Jizz" or "Big John") Gordon, 37, of Eastwick hiding out at the home of a friend of a distant relative, a source in the U.S. Marshals Philadelphia office said.

On July 18, Gordon allegedly shot Randy Campbell, 23, after a fight that began in the bar's restroom and then moved outside to Garrett Roar near Fairfield Avenue.

Gordon was arrested without incident. Officials said the man with whom he was staying was not arrested for harboring a fugitive because he claimed to have been unaware of Gordon's criminal status.

Gordon was taken to the Philadelphia Police homicide unit, and was to be transferred to police in Upper Darby. He was already on state parole because of a robbery and murder he committed in 1992, U.S. Marshals said.

It was reported last month that Corey White, a 22-year-old West Philadelphia man who was fatally shot after his ex-girlfriend used her Facebook page to put a hit out on him, may have been Gordon's getaway driver in the Campbell shooting. That connection has not been confirmed.
