W. Philly woman charged in knife fight

Ganeil Howard messed with the wrong women.

Police have charged Howard, 22, with two counts of aggravated assault and related offenses after she allegedly attacked two women with a knife during a scuffle yesterday outside a home on Champlost Avenue near 17th in Ogontz, police spokeswoman Officer Tanya Little said.

She provided the following account:

The fight broke out just before 3 p.m., when the two victims heard a loud bang at the home's door. When they went to investigate, they saw several women running away.

That's when they decided to grab a billy club and crack some skulls.

During the brawl, one of the women, 24, was stabbed in the neck by Howard. Her friend, 41, wrestled the knife away, getting stabbed herself in the back and head for her efforts.

The fighters scattered when police arrived, and the 41-year-old handed both the knife and her billy club to the officers. Both victims were taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where Howard herself later showed up with a stab wound in her back. The women positively identified her, and she was arrested.

Howard, of 58th Street near Media in West Philly, remains in custody at Riverside Correctional Facility on $7,500 bail, according to court records.
