Warrant issued in fatal Grays Ferry double shooting

A warrant has been issued for Shekinah Williams, 28, of Point Breeze, who was allegedly involved in a shootout Friday afternoon that killed Clarice Douglas — a 45-year-old innocent bystander — and critically wounded Hakeem Burley, 23, whom police named as a second suspect.

Shots rang out around 2:30 p.m. on Corlies Street near Dickinson and Douglas suffered a gunshot wound to her head as Williams and Burley ran down the street shooting at each other, police said.

Douglas was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and was pronounced dead at 3:32 p.m.

While police were at the hospital, Burley, of South Philadelphia, arrived with gunshot wounds to his arm and side. Police determined that he was one of the two shooters and Williams was identified as the second suspect this weekend. Police did not disclose why Burley and Williams were shooting at each other.

Williams, 28, is about 5-feet-3 inches tall, weighs about 125 pounds and has brown eyes, police said. He lives on Sears Street near 21st. His criminal record dates back to 2000, and includes charges for reckless endangerment, assault and drug possession, among other offenses, according to court documents.

Burley's record dates back to 2004, according to court documents. Burley's record includes arrests for weapons violations, robbery and criminal conspiracy, among other offenses.

After being treated for his injuries, Burley was arrested on charges of carrying an unlicensed firearm and carrying a gun in public. He is being held in the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility on $250,000 bail, according to court documents. Burley's preliminary court hearing is scheduled for May 8.

City Councilman Kenyatta Johnson and State Sen. Anthony Williams posted a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
