Weekend murder victims were from North Philly, Wynnefield

Cops release IDs in two weekend homicides.

Police have identified two men slain in weekend shootings.

Abdullah Dancy, 22, of Montgomery Avenue near 20th in North Philly, died just after 8 p.m. Friday at Hahnemann University Hospital after someone shot him in the chest and back at about 7: 15 p.m. on Jefferson Street near 27th, said Officer Christine O'Brien, a police spokeswoman. Police listed the motive as argument and are seeking suspects.

Montel Royster, 20, of Diamond Street near 52nd Street in Wynnefield, died at 12:18 a.m. Saturday at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, after someone shot him in the stomach and chest on Hazelhurst Street near 52nd, O'Brien said. Three men in hoodies fled on foot east on Hazelhurst Street then south on 54th to Berks, police said. An argument sparked the shooting. Police reported no arrests. Court records show that Dancy was on probation for two drug convictions at the time of his death.
