Woman, 25, wounded in North Philadelphia shooting

A 25-year-old woman was hospitalized Tuesday night after police say she was shot twice on a North Philadelphia street.

Police were called to Bouvier Street, a narrow side street between 17th and 18th streets, just north of Dauphin at 10:15 p.m. for the report of a shooting. When cops pulled up, they saw a car speeding away and pulled it over, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

In the car were two women, one of whom was shot once to the left hip and once to the left arm, Small said. The wounded woman was taken to Temple University Hospital and listed in stable condition, and the other woman, who was driving, was being interviewed as a witness to the shooting.

The woman told police she heard gunshots on the block then realized she was shot. Small said police found two spent shell casings on the block and blood inside a house there. Detectives were at the scene and working on getting a warrant for the house late Tuesday night.

The latest shooting comes after two other shootings -- including an execution-style homicide inside a corner store at 19th Street and Susquehanna Avenue -- happened within a few hours of each other Monday night in the same neighborhood. It's unclear at this point if any of the shootings are connected.
