Going somewhere? If so, you may notice that the hotel industry is hopping aboard the green bandwagon.

Going somewhere? If so, you may notice that the hotel industry is hopping aboard the green bandwagon.

Philly's Ritz-Carlton, on the Avenue of the Arts, offers a towel and sheet program, which gives green-minded guests the chance to re-use their linens and towels for a day or two to cut down on needless washing/drying.

New York's Sugar Hill Harlem Inn offers bulk has opted for in-room bulk dispensers of soap, shampoo, conditioner, and and lotion, forgoing all those little bottles and packages that eventually get tossed into landfills.

And Chicago's chic Avenue Hotel provides free overnight parking to guests who arrive in hybrid vehicles.

Talk about rewarding good behavior!

It's not just the priciest or trendiest: Other hotels, motels, B&B's and hostels are becoming just as environmentally conscious, not only to attract green-minded guests but to reduce the buildings' cost of keeping the lobbies open and  lights on (and off, if they use an eco-smart timer).

For a long list of lodgings, plus a rating of how "green" they are, go to the very grassroots-y Environmentally Friendly Hotels site, scroll around, then book your room mindfully.
