Obama nominates North Jersey federal judge for 3rd Circuit seat

President Obama has nominated U.S. District Court Judge Joseph A. Greenway Jr., who sits in Newark, N.J., to a seat on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia.

President Obama has nominated U.S. District Court Judge Joseph A. Greenway Jr., who sits in Newark, N.J., to a seat on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia.

Greenway, 52, a British-born, 1981 Harvard Law School graduate, was nominated to the federal bench in 1996 by then President Clinton.

U.S. Sens. Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez, both Democrats, who recommended Greenway, announced the nomination this morning.

The U.S. Senate must confirm the nomination.
