Forecast: Snow heaviest north and west of city

A winter storm moving into the area this morning is expected to bring three to five inches of snow and sleet to the northern parts of Chester, Montgomery and Bucks Counties.

Some schools, mostly in counties north of the city, have already closed for the day.

Southern parts of the three mentioned counties "may receive only an inch or two, at most," according to a National Weather Service advisory.

Rain should join the mix of sleet and snow around midday, with rain and "patches of freezing rain and freezing drizzle" this evening.

No accumulation is expected for Philadelphia, Delaware County and South Jersey, where the temperatures will be warmer. These areas could see some morning snow and sleet. "However, any precipitation that
develops should change over quickly to plain rain," the service states.
