S.J. man charged with trying to kill girlfriend

Inquirer staff writer Sam Wood reports:

A South Jersey man has been charged with attempted murder after he strangled his girlfriend and threw her from the balcony of a Marlton apartment building, police say.

Brett Picciotti, 26, of Berlin, is being held on $250,000 bail at the Burlington County Jail.

Police said an argument between Picciotti and his 26-year-old girlfriend erupted into violence about 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the woman's apartment at The Hollows on Woodhollow Drive in Evesham Township.

Picciotti allegedly throttled the woman with his hands then picked her up and threw her from a second story balcony.

Picciotti fled and police later found him at a relative's shore house in Brigantine.

The woman, who was transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, was not seriously injured, police said.
