Eagles recycling extends to the parking lot

Inside Lincoln Financial Field, the Eagles football team has managed to recycle everything imaginable, from bottles to cups to even the food waste.

Fear not, tailgaters, you can get in on the act as well.

The "Recycle A Lot" program, funded by the Alcoa Foundation and launched by the Pennsylvania Resources Council last year, is back in full swing in designated parking lots outside the stadium.

Parking attendants will distribute large green recycling bags to fans as they enter.  Tailgaters can fill them with bottles, cans, plastic containers and cardboard during pre-game parties. And because the bags might sometimes fill up rather quickly, ahem, a recycling team will circulate throughout the lots to provide additional bags and collect the full bags. And add a full dose of encouragement.

Last year, the crew collected more than 8,000 pounds of recyclables per game.

"The response from the fans so far has been even greater than we expected. The Eagles tailgates are like a community, and most fans are really happy to do anything to keep the lots clean and fun," said  PRC Executive Director Bob Jondreau in a press release.

So bring it on Detroit, and if you're tailgating at this Sunday's game, remember to bag it.
