Kate Moss on a carousel for Louis Vuitton show

Marc Jacobs, who has been rumored to take over the reins at Dior after this season, channeled his childhood- and potential future- with a rotating carousel full of models riding horses on the Louis Vuitton runway set.

It's playtime for Marc Jacobs.

Karl Lagerfeld's use of siren Florence Welch, channeling Botticelli's Birth of Venus as she emerged singing from a shell in Chanel's Spring Summer '12 show on Wednesday, was nothing compared to this.

Marc Jacobs, who has been rumored to take over the reins at Dior after this season, channeled his childhood- and potential future- with a rotating carousel full of models riding horses on the Louis Vuitton runway set.

One writer nailed it with, "A gleaming white merry-go-round with a cast of fresh-faced models astride its horses — was somehow the perfect metaphor for fashion itself: an industry in constant motion where everything eventually comes back around." (Jenny Barchfield, AP)

According to Fashionista, the carousel was covered by a white curtain prior to the show's start time of 10 a.m. Up bright and early and seated in the front row included newly-divorced House star Olivia Wilde, O-M-G stylist Rachel Zoe, British wild child Poppy Delevigne, actress Abbie Cornish, and more. Once the music began, the curtain dropped and a gasp ran through the stunned crowd. Then, one by the one, the models hopped off the carousel and walked down the runway.

Neat, right?

This isn't that much of a surprise considering Marc's use of fully-operating, caged elevators complete with guards on his set last season. Model Kate Moss, who closed Louis Vuitton's Fall 2011 show, also made a repeat appearance, sans cigarette. However, this time, she asked Marc if she could walk in his show, and furthermore, looked absolutely stunning in his ethereal pieces. His use of plummage, organza and rhinestones will take those who wistfully long for fairy tales, back to their childhoods next spring.

As for his next presentation, we envision and expect bright things. Perhaps models emerging from a private jet that lands into the venue? Now that would be cool.
