Healthy family recipe: Yogurt-dipped frozen fruit

Cool off during hot days with this refreshing, healthy treat!

Cool off during hot days with this refreshing, healthy treat. Use this technique for any fruit your kids like, and get creative with your toppings!  While grapes and blueberries work well in this recipe for older kids, these can be a choking hazard for young children.  For children under 4-years-old, cut into very small pieces before serving or opt for larger fruit like mango or pineapple spears

Yogurt-Dipped Frozen Fruit

Ingredients:

  1. Your favorite fruit

  1. Low-sugar yogurt

  1. Optional toppings such as: coconut flakes, chia seeds, finely chopped nuts, cocoa powder

Directions:

1. Wash and cut fruit into bite-sized pieces.  Place prepared fruit on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

2. Set up your dipping station: place the yogurt and toppings in separate bowls.

3. Dip the fruit. Place the fruit in the bowl of yogurt, move it around with a small fork to coat.  Use the fork to retrieve the fruit from the yogurt.

4. Dip the yogurt-coated fruit into the toppings, and return to the baking sheet.

5. Freeze until solid, about 90 minutes.
