Yesterday was fairly quiet in City Hall. The Philadelphia Parks Alliance released a report claiming that the city's parks were worth $1.9 billion to Philadelphia each year. The over-under in the office was $1.5 billion, so, nice job parks. More practicable parks news is expected today, when a City Council committee will wrestle with the notion of combining the Fairmount Park Commission and the Recreation department, putting Fairmount Park firmly under the mayor's control. The change would have to be approved by voters in the form of a ballot question.
