Fattah changes up D.C. staff
Here's a look at some staff changes in U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah's congressional office.
Washington, DC - Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA), a senior Member on the House Appropriations Committee, announces several staffing changes in his Washington, DC office.
Maisha Leek, Senior Policy Adviser to Fattah since February of last year has been promoted to Chief of Staff. Leek, a graduate of Trinity Washington University and the University of Pennsylvania, was Special Assistant to the Vice Chair at the U.S. Election Assistance Commission before returning to Fattah's office a year ago. In 2007, Leek served as a legislative aide for the Pennsylvania Representative. In her new position Leek will direct the overall operation of the DC office.
Michael Walker, Esq. joins Fattah's staff as Chief Counsel on a part-time basis. Walker is the Principal of the Law Office of Michael A. Walker in Center City. He will advise Fattah on strategic and long-term legislative initiatives. Walker formerly served as In-House Counsel and Vice President of Programs for the Urban League of Philadelphia. He replaces Charles Hayden, who now serves as a judge in Philadelphia's Municipal Court.
Michelle Anderson-Lee, who has specialized in appropriations work, transitions from Chief of Staff to Director of Appropriations coinciding with Fattah's new position as Ranking Member on the Appropriations' Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and related agencies.
Bonnie Bowser, a member of Fattah's staff since 2002, continues in her role as District Chief of Staff for the congressman's offices in West Philadelphia and Mt. Airy.
