Freshman Councilman Taubenberger fined by ethics board

City Councilman Al Taubenberger has been fined $1,000 by the ethics board for failing to disclose a loan from the chairman of the city’s Republican party.

City Councilman Al Taubenberger has been fined $1,000 by the ethics board for failing to disclose a loan from the chairman of the city's Republican party.

Taubenberger received the $5,000 loan from the reelection committee for Rep. John Taylor during an unsuccessful run for Council in 2011, according to the agreement released Thursday. He was fined for failing to disclose it last year, as he made another run for office.

The board said Taubenberger, who is one of three Republicans on Council, failed to disclose $4,214 of the loan. He had repaid Taylor's committee $500 and the committee had forgiven $286 of the debt.
