Nutter lures big fish - Hillary - to weekend party in NY

Mayor Nutter stood right by Hillary Clinton's side throughout Pennsylvania's Democratic primary campaign for president.

Now she plans to stand by Nutter's side at a party he is hosting this weekend during the 110th Pennsylvania Society weekend in New York - the annual gathering of state leaders at New York's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.

The Nutter for Mayor campaign sent invitations to about 100 guests to attend a Saturday afternoon reception at Buddakan, Philadelphia restaurantaur Stephen Starr's New York establishment.

"We are all going to be up there, and I thought it was a good idea to see some friends before the end of the year," said Scott Freda Nutter's finance director. Nutter's friend and frequent political adviser, Dick Hayden, agreed, Freda said.

To be clear, he said the party is not a fundraiser for Nutter. With Clinton appearing as an honored guest, Freda said, "It is a reception to honor Mayor Nutter, and a get-together for some of his friends."

This will be Nutter's first year at the annual gathering as Philadelphia mayor. As a mere mayor-elect, Nutter last year hosted a private lunch at the 21 Club for about 50 supporters.
