I've been feeling bad about my Top 12 fatigue, nodding off a bit during Amanda Overmyer ("You Can't Do That") and Michael Johns ("Across the Universe"), but now I find out that Simon can't even remember the name of "the Irish girl," the one who'd sung about an hour ago.

That would be Carly Smithson, who I suppose should be grateful that he didn't describe her as "the girl with the big honking tattoos."

And then "Eight Days a Week" gets the country treatment from Kristy Lee Cook (which seems to include a considerable amount of bouncing) and I'm back to being bored.

"Like being at some ghastly country fair," pronounces Simon, whose pre-"Idol" travels must have been pretty grim.
