Tips for driving around bicyclists

For bicyclists and motorists to share the road, some accommodations must be made by both sides. Manners should abide.

In that spirit , Katie Monroe of the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia has posted an item here on Philly.com offering some tips for how those behind wheels can drive around those on two wheels.

She made this appeal before offering them up:

Before you start, my dear commenters - yes, I am aware that not all bicyclists follow the rules of the road. For what it's worth, I do. But this article is not about that. My goal here is to educate people who drive cars about how to minimize their risk of hurting or killing a person riding a bicycle, an effort I think we should all be able to get behind.
