A question of eminent domain

Governor signed off and...forgot?

Gov. Christie seems unaware of the substance of a measure he signed into law on January 21.

Or perhaps the Fort Lee fracas caused him to forget?

The apparent lapse came to light Monday when Christie responded to a caller during the live Ask the Governor program on radio station NJ 101.5. "Danielle from Harrison" inquired about what she seemed to believe were the proposed eminent domain powers of a joint governing board for Rutgers and Rowan universities.

"Powers of eminent domain?" Christie, who seemed genuinely perplexed, said. "I'm not sure of the bill you're talking about, I'm not sure about  [these] institutions having power of eminent domain either. .. if and when it makes it to my desk, it will get a thorough vetting."

It already did. Or maybe it didn't; the measure was among 100 Christie signed January 21.
