I've been covering South Jersey softball for The Inquirer for three years, but Tuesday was the first time that I saw a triple play.
Gloucester Catholic's Brianna Rodriguez started it with a shoestring catch at third base with Bishop Ahr runners on first and second. Rodriguez fired the ball to first-baseman Shayla Giosa for the second out. Giosa threw to second-baseman Christina Matranga for the third out.
Unfortunately for the Rams, they lost, 2-1, and Bishop Ahr captured the Non-Public South Jersey A championship.
