Now, this is what I call a celebratory day.
The 17 seniors on La Salle’s lacrosse team graduated from high school this morning. After the ceremony, those players and their other teammates faced Downingtown East in the biggest game of the season. A couple of hours later, the Explorers aren't just rejoicing over a graduation.
La Salle defeated the Cougars, 10-8, in a PIAA quarterfinal at Harriton High School.
Senior attackman Pete Schwartz and sophomore attackman Kevin Forster scored three goals apiece in the victory.
The victory sent La Salle (19-4) into Tuesday’s semifinal at a neutral site. The District 12 champion will face the winner of tonight’s game between District 3 top-seed Manheim Township and District 7 No. 1 seed Mount Lebanon.
Read tomorrow’s Inky for more information on today’s game.
