Whether the weather

covering the “bomb cyclone”

Our staff responded to the "bomb cyclone" this week just like the Mummers Parade - or Eagles game - with saturation team coverage. It was never planned that way, but over the years we have all settled in different parts of the region. So whenever we have a weather event, we have the area blanketed pretty well, just by virtue of where we all start our day from home.

Most of the scheduled assignments were cancelled when the storm hit on Thursday, so we all started our day shooting from out own neighborhoods, and continued shooting as we worked our way into the city, or toward places we knew would make pictures as the Nor'easter moved up into our area.

Elizabeth Robertson, who lives closest to the Jersey Shore, left for Atlantic City - which was expected to get hit with the brunt of the Arctic air. After covering Saint Joseph's 87-81 OT win over VCU Wednesday night, Liz tried to check into her hotel but their computer was down, so it was a couple of hours before she could get to bed.

Most of our snow photos - see them here - around Philadelphia looked like any other snow storm,  but her pictures of people on snow-blown streets really looked like a blizzard. He photos really showed the blowing and drifting snow, driven by 30 mph winds that gusted even higher.

And, for a visual change of seasons, take a look at this gallery of people seeking warmth during this record cold weekend.
