Union files to represent Amazon.com workers at Del. plant

Machinists seek bargaining at Delaware warehouse

Machinists who service equipment at Amazon.com's sprawling Middletown, Del. warehouse have filed with the National Labor Relations Board for a union representation election, which has been scheduled for Jan. 16, the Wilmington, Del. News Journal says here.

International Association of Machinists organizers say a Yes vote would mark the first unionization at an Amazon plant. The works employs more than 1,600 fulltime workers and hundreds more during the Christmas shopping season; most won't be covered under the January vote.
