Aqua bets on growth in Chester County

Buys wastewater system in "fast growing" Penn Township

Aqua Pennsylvania Wastewater says it paid $3.7 million for Penn Township utility system assets, including wastewater treatment for Jennersville Regional Hospital and 24 other commercial customers and 776 residential customers. The company, based in Bryn Mawr, promised it will spend around $2 million more "to upgrade the system adn bring it into environmental regulatory compliance."

In a statement, Nicholas DeBenedictis, chariman and CEO of parent Aqua America Inc., said he looked forward to gaining business "in this fast-growing Chester County township." Aqua owns systems serving 3 million water and wastewater customers in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and six other states.
