DuPont buys biofuel maker for $6 billion
Danisco will boost DuPont's future food, fuel and cleaner businesses
DuPont Co., the Wilmington chemical and bioengineering giant, says it's buying Danish food-processing and enzyme maker Danisco for $3 billion in cash, $2.8 billion in borrowed money, and $500 million in assumed Danisco debt.
It's DuPont's biggest deal in at least a decade. Boss Ellen Kullman says the companies are already working on biological means for developing alcohol fuels together, and Danisco will help DuPont develop many new food-processing and fuel chemicals for fast-growing world markets. Statement here.
