Harrisburg weighs more KOZ tax breaks for business

Comcast has created or moved more than 1,300 new jobs to Center City, even without the Keystone Opportunity Center tax breaks Gov. Rendell and Liberty Property Trust wanted for the building four years ago. Now Rendell wants to expand KOZs, and make them easier to get.

Philadelphia's tallest building, the new Comcast headquarters, opened Friday with an invitation-only party in its airy new lobby,  and Comcast has created or moved more than 1,300 additional jobs into Center City, despite the Pennsylvania General Assembly's defeat of the Keystone Opportunity Zone tax breaks that landlord Liberty Property Trust and Gov. Rendell tried to get for the projects four years ago.

Pending legislation would make it easier to spread KOZ tax breaks even without the General Assembly's permission. Inquirer story
