Pharma/tech: Instem buys Notocord

5th deal in 5 years for UK/Conshy-based firm

Instem, a UK-based drug-development software maker whose 32-worker U.S. headquarters is in Conshohocken, says it has acquired Notocord, a France-based firm focused on "data acquisition and analysis in preclinical studies" for "cardiovascular, respiratory, electrophysiology and nervous system research" for drugmakers and hospitals. Terms not disclosed.

Instem, which claims 500 customers for its own drug-development data and compliance IT applications, including GSK, Sanofi, BMS and other global giants with Pennsyvlania and New Jersey operations, has bought five firms in the past five years and plans to keep buying, marketing chief Gary Mitchell told me. "We are almost always hiring for open positions," he added.
