Patels: We'll hire 1,000 for new Philly-area restaurants

The Ayn Rand fans who own Texas-based Focus Brands plan 30 Schlotzsky's sandwich shops, each with a Cinnabon bakery and Carvel ice cream franchise, through Chirag Patel's Prayosha Philly LLC

Focus Brands Inc. says it plans to open 30 new Schlotzsky's sandwich restaurants, each with a Cinnabon and Carvel franchise attached, in Philadelphia, Trenton and their suburbs, in commuter train stations and other locations, starting this winter.

The chain, based in Austin, Tex., plans to hire "more than 1,000," or around 40 per site, Schlotzsky's president Kelly Roddy told me.

Prayosha Philly LLC, which operates local Dunkin Donuts and Moe's Southwest Grill for Focus, along with hotel restaurant franchises, will operate the restaurants in this area. Prayosha is run by Chirag Patel and partners Ashok Patel, Dasharath Patel, and Atul Patel.

Schlotzky's is owned by Neal K. Aronson's Atlanta-based Roark Capital, named for libertarian writer Ayn Rand's architect-hero Howard Roark from her novel The Fountainhead.
