Beyonce releases surprise album 'Lemonade'

Available only on Tidal.

Beyonce has done it again. On Saturday night, the pop superstar used an HBO special teased only as a "musical event" to unveil Lemonade, a 12 song not-entirely-out-of-the-blue album that took a page out of the surprise release strategy she employed with 2013's Beyonce.

Like it predecessor, Lemonade is a "visual album," with videos included for every single song. It tells a story which may or may not reference Jay Z cheating on his not-to-be-trifled-with wife, and the clips include plenty of cameos, Serena Williams among them. Musical guests on the album include, James Blake, Jack White, Kendrick Lamar, Diplo and The Weeknd.

And oh yeah, it's available to be heard only on Tidal, the Jay Z helmed service that also has hosted exclusives-of-sorts on new albums this year by Rihanna and Kanye West, How bad can their marriage be, if she's throwing his troubled company a lifeline by giving him exclusive access to the album? If she was really mad at him, she could give the album to Spotify.
