Justin Timberlake was on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Friday, teaming with the host and house band The Roots for the third installment of their History of Rap medley series. This time the suit-jacketed twosome took on everything from DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince's "Parents Just Don't Understand" to Coolio's "Gansta's Paradise" to the Beastie Boys' "Sabotage." I still find it rather irksome that these two smirky funnymen get to cavort in front of the camera doing a routine that was essentially a part of The Roots live show - as "Hip-Hop 101" - for years, while one of the world's best rappers, Black Thought, stands on the sidelines and watches. But the duo's energy is hard to deny, neither of them takes themself too seriously, and this time around Timberlake winningly mocks Fallon after he recites the lyric "I didn't even have to use my AK," from Ice Cube's "It Was A Good Day." The Roots Undun comes out December 6.
