Watch: Father John Misty sings 'Ballad of the Dying Man' on Colbert
The singer-songwriter born Josh Tillman, who caused a kerfuffle with his XPoNential fest performance last year, was on the late night show hyping his album 'Pure Comedy.'
Father John Misty was on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night in advance of the release of his third album, Pure Comedy, which comes out Friday.
The no-longer-bearded singer born Josh Tillman's ambitious opus is the follow-up to 2015's I Love You, Honeybear and his first recorded work since the brouhaha that ensued after his truncated performance at the Xponential Festival in Camden last summer.
I'm writing about Misty and other divisive artists that people either love -- or love to hate -- in my In The Mix column this week. Look for that in your Sunday Inquirer, and here on Philly.com.
Misty plays The Skyline Stage at the Mann in Fairmount Park on Sept. 15 . Watch him and a band that includes back up singers who formerly worked with the late Sharon Jones below.
