Several readers called to ask if Japan's "13 Assassins," now playing at the Ritz at the Bourse, is subtitled. Yes, but don't let that stop you. It's not a language-intensive movie. "Assassins" is Takashi Miike's successful attempt to revive and update the venerable samurai genre. Judging by the reader interest, I'd say there's a pent-up demand out there for some classic, honest (as in no CGI) action. "Assassins" fills the bill. Keep in mind, though, that Miike is known as a practitioner of "extreme cinema," so there's quite a bit of graphic violence.
