Cusack joins Lee Daniels, Pete Dexter Joint Venture
Lee Daniels loses Tobey Maguire, gains John Cusack
John Cusack has replaced Tobey Maguire in "The Paperboy," directed by Philly native and "Precious" helmer Lee Daniels. The thriller about two brothers investigating a sheriff's murder in Florida is based on a novel by former Philadelphia Daily News columnist Pete Dexter.
Daniels is also negotiating with Nicole Kidman and Matthew McConaughey. The cast already includes...Zac Efron. In a Pete Dexter story. Which I guess is no weirder than Tobey Maguire in an F. Scott Fitzgerald story.
Maguire reportedly exited to honor his commitment to "The Great Gatsby."
